What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château est établi sur un site fossoyé associant motte, fossé et basse-cour. Reconstruit à la fin du 15e siècle, il fut pendant quelques années et jusqu'à sa mort le séjour de Marguerite de Navarre. Son aspect actuel remonte au milieu du 19e siècle. Le propriétaire fit appel à Auguste Virebent qui enveloppa le château d'un décor de terre cuite, donnant à l'ensemble un aspect troubadour.
