What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château construit au 14e siècle par Gaston Phoebus. Dans un acte de 14 mars 1378, ce prince accorda aux cagots divers privilèges à la condition, pour eux, de fournir, transporter, mettre en place tous les matériaux de la charpente de ce château. Il ne reste plus que les murs d'enceinte et la tour du donjon. Les murs d'enceinte paraissent moins anciens que cette dernière. Ils sont construits sur un plan polygonal et revêtus de cailloux roulés disposés en feuilles de fougère, dont les rangs sont séparés par des assises de briques. L'enceinte est flanquée sur les arêtes de contreforts adhérents en briques. Les faces du polygone sont percées ça et là de portes gothiques et de fenêtres croisées. Quelques restes de mâchicoulis subsistent encore. Le côté nord-est de la tour est occupé par une petite tour carrée renfermant l'escalier.
