What the French Ministry of Culture records

Une première forteresse médiévale est construite vers 1200. La majeure partie de l'édifice actuel remonte à Jean et Pierre d'Harcourt, dont les campagnes de constructions commencent vers 1480 pour s'achever vers le milieu du 16e siècle. Le château se caractérise par de nombreuses tours et une façade flamboyante à la luxueuse décoration murale rehaussée par des lucarnes ornées. A l'intérieur, les derniers travaux d'embellissement remontent au début du 20e siècle.
