Overlooking the Gave de Pau river, Coarraze castle stands on the site of a lordship recorded as early as the 12th century, though the building seen today dates from the mid 18th century. It is best known for having sheltered the childhood of the future Henri IV, raised under the care of his governess Suzanne de Bourbon, baroness of Miossens. The medieval keep, one of the last still standing in Béarn, and a drawing room with a rare chinoiserie wallpaper are among its notable features.
