Set on a plateau overlooking the Gartempe valley at the edge of the Monts du Limousin, the Château du Chambon combines a main residential block with two round towers and a corbelled turret. Dry moats once surrounded the fortified terrace, where a dovecote and the remains of a former chapel can still be seen. The estate stayed within a single family line, the Deaulx and later the Desmarais, from the 16th century until the late 20th.
