What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les constructions existantes, exemple de demeure seigneuriale locale avec ses douves et une partie de son système défensif, remontent au 17e siècle. Incendié au cours des guerres anglaises, l'édifice fut restauré vers 1624. La porte d'entrée a ses mâchicoulis surmontés d'armoiries couronnées par des motifs Renaissance. Un bâtiment de communs donne sur une vaste cour de service entourée de murs de défense, percés de meurtrières. Cette cour donne accès par un pont à une île entourée de douves, comprenant elle-même le château précédé de sa cour d'honneur, flanqué de quatre petits pavillons aux quatre coins de l'île. Un autre pont permet d'accéder à un jardin à la française et à une pièce d'eau.
