In Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, what remains of the château built for the Duke of La Vrillière consists of an octagonal pavilion, an orangery and a wing overlooking the former moat, now laid out as a garden. Most of the building disappeared after the Revolution, when the Orléans architect Benoît Lebrun, having bought the estate, had much of it torn down, keeping only the rotunda, a gallery and the entrance pavilions. The twenty-hectare park, first laid out in the style of Le Nôtre and later reworked as an English garden in the 19th century, holds a number of notable trees and a Temple of Love rebuilt by local schoolchildren in 2009. The former stables now house the Loire river navigation museum.
