Ce château a été construit à la fin du 16e siècle et au début du 17e siècle (sur les plans de l'architecte Théodore Lefebvre), puis dans la seconde moitié du 17e siècle. Le parc est complémentaire du château et conserve les restes des grands tracés jardinés établis entre le 17e et le 19e siècle : aménagements à partir des années 1630 d'un parc à la française, peu modifié au 18e siècle et transformé en parc paysager à partir de 1822.
