What the French Ministry of Culture records

Château appartenant au style brique et pierre, archétype des édifices élevés par le milieu royal à la fin du 16e siècle. Le manoir est acheté en 1589 par Guillaume Baigneault, secrétaire du roi et conseiller des finances qui fait bâtir un nouvel édifice de 1598 à 1609. Il se compose d'un corps de logis rectangulaire flanqué de deux pavillons plus bas, puis d'ailes en retour se terminant par deux petits pavillons. L'aile Est abrite la chapelle, ornée d'un décor peint. A l'ouest, s'ouvre le portail d'entrée avec sa porte piétonne. Le dessin général reprend les grands modèles mis en uvre par Jacques Androuet du Cerceau dans sa typologie du troisième Livre d'architecture pour maisons des champs. Le centre de la cour de la ferme est occupé par le colombier.
