In Saint-Bouize, in the Cher department, the château de Lagrange-Montalivet shows a central main building flanked by two pavilions, under a mansard roof dating from the late 16th century. Visitors reach the entrance through a semicircular porch on the courtyard side and a horseshoe staircase facing the park, both still in place today. The estate bears the marks of several centuries of ownership, from the Buffevent lords to the Counts of Montalivet, ministers under Napoleon and under Louis-Philippe, who restored the buildings and reshaped part of the gardens.
