What the French Ministry of Culture records
Château construit en trois fois. Ce fut d'abord un donjon dont la bâtisse principale était flanquée de deux tours polygonales. Il était cerné d'une enceinte fortifiée, dont il reste la troisième tour, alors non reliée au bâtiment principal, et une barbacane oblongue. Des canonnières défendaient l'accès du puits. Un souterrain reliait la barbacane à l'une des tours du donjon. Une seconde campagne de travaux, au 17e siècle, ajouta le corps de bâtiment à droite de la tour, ainsi que les bâtiments fermant la cour. Au 19e siècle se fit le raccordement entre le bâtiment principal et la tour ronde du rempart. Ce donjon était un relai de feu entre la tour de Montcuq et le donjon de Marcilhac, et assurait la défense de la vallée de Charry.
