Built by a family of merchants from Montcuq who rose into the military nobility, it was the birthplace of Jacques de Prévost, nicknamed the Second Bayard for his conduct in the Italian Wars. The site still shows a round tower from the surrounding wall and a barbican, remnants of a defensive network that once linked this keep to those of Montcuq and Marcilhac.
