Standing in the village of Saint-Cyprien, in the commune of Lendou-en-Quercy, this castle in the Lot department combines the remains of a 13th century stronghold with later alterations. Its quadrangular plan flanked by square towers, together with walls pierced by arrow slits and gun loops, still evoke its original military purpose. Inside, a 17th century straight staircase displays carved pilasters decorated with cherubs, garlands and scrollwork. Looted and then set ablaze during the Revolution, the building still bears the traces of that troubled episode.
