What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'édifice a conservé des éléments anciens, en particulier les restes d'un château du 13e siècle. Au 16e siècle, l'édifice connaît de nombreuses améliorations dans un style moins guerrier. Au 17e siècle, le domaine est vendu et, en 1790, après avoir été pillé, le château est incendié et brûle pendant trois jours. D'aspect médiéval, l'édifice se rattache aux dispositions militaires médiévales : quadrilatère flanqué de tours carrées, murs percés d'archères ou de canonnières, soubassement d'un donjon en briques. Dans la cour intérieure, un escalier à vis abrité dans une tour ronde, dessert les pièces principales cantonnées à l'est et au sud. Cet espace ménagé par les différents corps de bâtiments était séparé par une série d'arcades en plein cintre qui se sont écroulées. L'escalier du 17e siècle, dans la partie Est du château, est à rampe droite et déploie un décor géométrique sur les pilastres, d'angelots, de guirlandes de fruits, de palmes et de volutes.
