To make a day of it

Château de Bougy stands in Bougy (Calvados), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Bougy, in Calvados, owes its present appearance to the Hue de Carpiquet family, who rebuilt the earlier house of the Le Révérend, a Protestant marquis family, during the 18th century. The main draw is the park laid out in the same period, shaped around the natural slope of the land and fed by springs, with its ponds, a formal basin and a channel running down to the Odon river. The courtyard, the moat and several outbuildings, the steward's house, stables, dovecote and wash house, complete the estate.
