What the French Ministry of Culture records

Edifice construit sur les soubassements du château-fort de la Mothe de Cantenac. Il présente un plan quadrangulaire entouré d'eau par des douves. Les angles sont fortifiés par des tourelles rondes dont deux ont été abaissées au 17e siècle. Sur un côté, un châtelet d'entrée est protégé par deux tours rondes surbaissées. De l'autre, les douves se franchissent par un pont de pierre du 15e siècle. La façade principale comporte un pavillon central carré à deux étages, couronné de balustres sur corniche à consoles. Porche à deux colonnes rondes à chapiteaux corinthiens. A l'intérieur, cheminées Renaissance.
