Château d'Auvers stands in Auvers-sur-Oise (Val-d'Oise), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Built in 1635 for an Italian banker in the entourage of Marie de Médicis, the château d'Auvers was remodeled in the French style at the end of the 17th century by Jean de Leyrit, then enlarged in the 18th century. It now houses a permanent exhibition devoted to the birth and legacy of Impressionism, a movement that partly took shape in Auvers-sur-Oise. The grounds, redesigned from period engravings, feature boxwood parterres, fountains and a grotto-like nymphaeum.
