Château d'Andlau stands in Andlau (Bas-Rhin), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 14th century, 16th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Standing on a narrow granite ridge above the valleys of Andlau and the Kirneck, Haut-Andlau Castle is one of the most striking medieval ruins in the Vosges mountains. Built in the 13th century by Eberhard d'Andlau, it retains its long residential building flanked by two round towers, raised from a single block of local granite. Owned by the same family since the Middle Ages, it is notable for having remained inhabited as a ruin right up until the French Revolution, an unusual fate for a Vosges castle.
