In Meyenheim, in the Haut-Rhin department, a medieval motte rises within the town, near the Rue de l'Église, Rue du Vignoble and Rue Basse. This earthen mound, roughly thirty metres across and six metres high, preserves the memory of a castle likely built in the 12th century on a site that had already been occupied in Gallo-Roman times. No standing structure remains: the shape of the land itself is what visitors encounter today.
