What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'origine du domaine remonte au 13e siècle. En 1515, il est acheté par François Ardoin à l'abbaye de Fontaine-le-Comte avec la promesse de restaurer les bâtiments ruinés. Par la suite, la propriété est étendue au fil du temps par les différents propriétaires. La construction du logis peut être datée de 1640-1686. Entre 1920 et 1925, d'importants travaux furent faits au logis, portant sur les lucarnes, le perron et l'entrée, le pavillon latéral qui fut surélevé, la construction d'une galerie au sud, la restauration de la chapelle et des tours d'angles. Comme tous les logis 17e construits aux abords de Poitiers par la noblesse, les Piliers se composent d'un logis en fond de cour, laquelle est entourée de trois ailes de communs et ouverte par un porche axial. Le logis comprend un corps central d'un niveau, agrandi d'une galerie à arcades au sud ; deux pavillons et deux tours rondes. Ces tours donnent sur le nord où l'élévation est agrémentée d'une terrasse entourée d'une balustrade. Le décor se cantonne aux nombreuses lucarnes à ailerons, frontons triangulaires et acrotères à boules, ainsi qu'aux portes sous frontons cintrés. Les pièces d'apparat s'ouvrent au nord sur un jardin entouré de fossés et dans lequel se trouve une colonne sommée d'une urne.
