Schnippenburg stands in Ostercappeln (Landkreis Osnabrück), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 3rd century. No visits are on record for this building.
The Schnippenburg is an Iron Age ring-wall enclosure set on a spur of the Wiehengebirge hills, in Ostercappeln, in the Landkreis Osnabrück, Lower Saxony. Built around the 3rd century BC, it burned down after only a few decades of use and was never rebuilt. Excavations carried out around the turn of the 2000s uncovered more than a thousand finds there, including weapons, bronze ornaments and traces of local ironworking. Now covered by forest, it is visited today as an open-air archaeological site rather than a castle in the usual sense.
