Wittekindsburg stands in Wallenhorst (Landkreis Osnabrück), in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Wittekindsburg sits on a spur of the Wiehengebirge range, in the Nette valley near Rulle. Covering roughly 16 hectares, it is considered the largest early medieval hilltop fortification in Lower Saxony, though only foundation walls remain visible today. The complex consists of a main stronghold with two outer enclosures, defended by dry stone or mortared walls and deep ditches. The name linking it to the Saxon leader Widukind comes from local tradition rather than confirmed historical evidence.
