Schelenburg stands in Bissendorf (Landkreis Osnabrück), in Lower Saxony, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Schelenburg stands at Bissendorf, in the Landkreis Osnabrück, between the Wiehen Hills and the Teutoburg Forest. This former moated castle ranks among the oldest fortified sites in the Osnabrück region, its Gothic residential tower dating from the 12th century and still partly surrounded by its old moat system. Around the tower rises a Renaissance residential wing built in the early 16th century by the master builder Jörg Unkair, in the Weser Renaissance style. The estate has remained in the hands of the von Schele family since the end of the 14th century.
