The Holter Burg is a ruined hilltop castle on a rocky spur in the municipality of Bissendorf, in the Landkreis Osnabrück, Lower Saxony. It is the oldest known castle site in the area, originally the seat of the lords of Holte, several of whom held high ecclesiastical offices in the Middle Ages. Visitors today can make out wall remnants, the circular outline of a former keep, and a striking double ditch system that once defended the stronghold. Archaeological excavations in 1997 and 2006 helped uncover and preserve these remains.
