Schloss Wildenroth stands apart from the town of Burgkunstadt, surrounded by trees that give the site an almost wooded character. In private ownership, the building goes back to a fortified structure from the mid thirteenth century, substantially rebuilt in the fifteenth century and again after a fire during the Peasants' War. The present three storey main building carries an octagonal corner tower added in the eighteenth century, and a coat of arms relief dated 1370 is set above the main portal. The whole property, including a former sheepfold, is not open to visitors.
