To make a day of it
Festung Rosenberg stands in Kronach (Landkreis Kronach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Rosenberg Fortress rises above the town of Kronach on a rocky spur in Upper Franconia, Bavaria. Founded in the 13th century as a medieval hill castle, it was later expanded into a Renaissance residence and then into an extensive baroque fortification by the prince-bishops of Bamberg, who made it one of their two territorial strongholds. It ranks among the best-preserved fortresses in Bavaria and was never taken by force in its long history. Visitors find three concentric defensive rings, a roughly 38-metre keep dating to the 13th century, and buildings that now house museum spaces.
