To make a day of it
Schloss Alte Kemenate stands in Küps (Landkreis Kronach), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Schloss Alte Kemenate stands in Nagel, a district of the market town of Küps in the Landkreis Kronach, Bavaria. Its origins trace back to a fortified house first recorded in 1419, belonging to Michel von Schaumberg, which later passed to the von Redwitz and then the von Künsberg families, who linked the old and a newer building with a wall and surrounded the whole with a moat. Only the Alte Kemenate itself survives today, a three storey structure with vaulted ground floor rooms, since the adjoining Neue Kemenate was torn down in 1859 after suffering structural damage from dampness. The grounds still include an old park with a notable ancient oak and the remains of a nineteenth century model farm.
