Burg Neuhaus (Neuhaus-Schierschnitz) stands in Föritztal (Landkreis Sonneberg), in Thuringia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Burg Neuhaus is a ruined hilltop castle standing at 365 metres above sea level in Föritztal, Thuringia. Founded in the 13th century by the lords of Schaumberg to control an old trade road between Leipzig and Nuremberg, it went through several transformations before being destroyed in 1634 during the Thirty Years' War. Since the early 20th century, the remaining walls have carried half timbered upper structures in a romanticised Nuremberg style, added by a local banker. What visitors find today are the remains of a site with a layered history, in a fragile state of preservation.
