Schloss Pfaffendorf stands in the centre of the village of Pfaffendorf, part of the municipality of Maroldsweisach in Bavaria. Built from 1703 for the von Stein zu Altenstein family, who had just given up their nearby ancestral Burg Altenstein, this modest baroque three-wing residence was completed in 1763 under engineer Michael Küchel, a pupil of Balthasar Neumann, following designs by the Dientzenhofer family of architects. Its exterior is plain but well proportioned, marked by two rows of small dormer-like windows along its steep hipped roof. The building now houses a boarding school and is not open to the public as a heritage site.
