To make a day of it
Schloss Hornberg stands in Kirchberg an der Jagst (Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Recorded dating: 13th century. No visits are on record for this building.
Schloss Hornberg sits on a rocky spur above the Jagst river, just outside the village that bears its name, in the municipality of Kirchberg an der Jagst. Built in the 13th century by the lords of Sulz as a Staufer stronghold, it still displays its Romanesque keep of rough-hewn stone, despite damage suffered during the Peasants' War. Rebuilt in the following decades, the complex took on the appearance of a Renaissance schloss, with a western wing and a baroque staircase tower linking the two main buildings. The moat, the shield wall and the largely intact outer ring wall remain visible today.
