Schloss Hecklingen stands on the site of a former monastic farmyard tied to the Benedictine, later Augustinian, convent of Hecklingen, first recorded in 1140. Rebuilt from 1617 onwards by the von Trotha family, who owned it for nearly three and a half centuries, it combines a Renaissance wing with a Baroque wing from the early eighteenth century, the latter featuring a festive hall decorated with stucco and ceiling paintings. Now operated as a hotel, the building stands in the centre of Hecklingen, near the church of St George and St Pancras and its adjoining park.
