The Huttenburg Altengronau stands on low ground in Sinntal, in Hesse. Alexander von Hutten had it built between 1548 and 1552 as a Renaissance residence, on the site of an earlier fortification belonging to his family. The present building, a three storey stone structure flanked by two round corner towers, reflects a rebuilding carried out in 1752 after the destruction of the Thirty Years' War, with its mansard roof from that period. It remains today the property of the von Hutten family, who live there.
