Haus Sülz stands in the valley floor of the Sülz river, between the hamlets of Lohmar-Donrath and Rösrath-Rambrücken. First recorded in 1075, this former fortified knight's seat belonged for centuries to the Staël von Holstein family before passing through several noble and then bourgeois owners. The buildings seen today, built of rubble stone, date mainly from the 18th century, with a north-west wing added in the 1930s in matching style. The south-west front is flanked by two corner towers with onion domes and red and white shutters, while less than a hundred metres away, overgrown ruins mark the remains of the original main castle building.
