Haus Venauen stands in Rösrath, in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia. Its history goes back to 1555, when Peter von Bellinghausen began building a residence near the Sülz river, on marshland that gave the estate its name. Ownership passed through several noble and later bourgeois families, and the most significant transformation came in 1907, when architect Heinrich Müller-Erkelenz reshaped it into a grand villa in the regional style fashionable at the time. The building later served as a Nazi party training school, then as a Belgian boarding school, before being converted into private apartments in the early 2010s.
