To make a day of it

Schloss Bensberg stands in Bergisch Gladbach (Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis), in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 20th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Schloss Bensberg stands in the Bensberg district of Bergisch Gladbach, in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia. Commissioned in the early 18th century by Elector Johann Wilhelm II as a hunting lodge, it was designed by architect Matteo d'Alberti with Versailles as a model, its central axis aligned precisely with Cologne Cathedral. After serving successive military, educational and municipal purposes through the 19th and 20th centuries, the building was converted into a luxury hotel in the late 1990s. Visitors can still see an old library holding thousands of volumes and the Zanetti Hall, with its ceiling fresco depicting the fall of the Titans.
