The Motte Kippekausen is a small moated mound fortification, of which only the foundation remains and the inner moat survive today. Located in the Kippekausen district of Bergisch Gladbach, it is thought to have been established in the late 9th century, though it is first documented only in 1404, under the ownership of Heinrich von Merheim. After falling out of use in the 16th century, the site was later incorporated into the neighbouring Kippekausen estate. What can be seen today is limited to an earthen mound surrounded by a ditch and buried foundations, with no standing walls.
