The Freihof Kirchheim is a half-timbered mansion from the 15th century in Kirchheim unter Teck, its cross-shaped floor plan and three storeys reflecting a long line of noble owners and remarkably varied uses. The ground floor is built of solid stone while the upper floors are largely timber-framed, with several round-arched portals bearing heraldic cartouches and early Baroque stucco ceilings still preserved inside. Over the centuries the building served as a noble seat, an alchemists' laboratory, a cavalry barracks and a wool market hall, and it now houses schools and a music school.
