Burg Teck crowns a 773 metre summit above Kirchheim unter Teck, on the edge of the Albtrauf escarpment. Little remains of the medieval stronghold destroyed in 1525 beyond fragments buried under later construction: a late 19th century observation tower built on the old keep's foundations, and a 20th century hiking lodge. The site owes part of its fame to the Dukes of Teck, whose line joined the British royal family when Mary of Teck married King George V.
