To make a day of it
Burg Hohenurach stands in Bad Urach (Landkreis Reutlingen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 11th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Hohenurach Castle stands on a rocky summit of the Swabian Jura above Bad Urach, roughly 250 metres over the Erms valley. Built between 1030 and 1050 by the counts of Urach, it later belonged to the counts and dukes of Württemberg, who turned it in the 16th century into one of the duchy's seven territorial fortresses. Now a ruin open to walkers, it still shows the layout of its defences and recalls a lengthy siege during the Thirty Years' War.
