To make a day of it
Ruine Limburg (Schwäbische Alb) stands in Weilheim an der Teck (Landkreis Esslingen), in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Limburg Ruin crowns the summit of the Limburg, a volcanic hill above Weilheim an der Teck in Baden-Württemberg. What remains today is less a ruin than an archaeological site: no walls rise above ground, only slight undulations in the terrain mark where the foundations once stood. Built around 1050 by Count Berthold I, known as the Bearded, it was among the oldest high-medieval Romanesque castles and the original seat of the House of Zähringen. A 15th-century chapel, the Michaelskapelle, was later built on the summit plateau after the castle fell into decay.
