To make a day of it
Burgstall Kleinziegenfeld stands in Weismain (Landkreis Lichtenfels), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Burgstall Kleinziegenfeld marks the remains of a medieval rock castle, standing at about 435 metres above sea level on a wooded steep slope north of the Kleinziegenfeld Schloss, in the district of the same name within Weismain. Built in 1316 for the bishopric of Bamberg, it was burned and torn down in 1463 during a feud between the Bishop of Bamberg and Konrad IX von Aufseß. What remains today is a neck ditch with its rampart, a small fragment of a cellar wall, and traces of stone working on the rock. The site forms part of a wider group, as two further fortified structures once stood nearby, though it is unclear whether these formed three separate castles or one divided complex.
