To make a day of it

Burgstall Arnstein (Weismain) stands in Weismain (Landkreis Lichtenfels), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burgstall Arnstein marks the site of a former medieval rock castle on the northwestern edge of Arnstein, part of the municipality of Weismain. Built around 1100, it served as the ancestral seat of the free lords of Arnstein before changing hands among regional nobles and the bishopric of Bamberg. Destroyed during the Peasants' War in 1525 and later stripped of its remaining stone in the 1930s for Nazi-era construction projects, the site today shows only scant traces of rock and foundation walls.
