To make a day of it

Burgstall Egelsburg stands in Deuerling (Landkreis Regensburg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Burgstall Egelsburg marks the site of a vanished medieval stronghold set on a limestone outcrop above the valley of the Schwarze Laber, near the Hillohe hamlet in the municipality of Deuerling. Built in the 12th century by the lords of Stein, the castle itself has long since disappeared, leaving only the earthworks, ramparts and ditches that once shaped its defences. The place is now part of the Regensburg castle hiking network and a stop along the Deuerling cultural trail. A few hundred metres away lies another lost fortification, the Burgstall Weihenstefen.
