Staufenberg Castle overlooks the village bearing its name from a hilltop in the Vorderer Vogelsberg range, at an altitude of 268 metres. First recorded in 1233, it consists of a lower ward rebuilt in neo-Gothic style during the 19th century, now home to a hotel, and an upper ward left as a ruin, of which part of the great hall still stands. Visitors can climb a stair tower to reach a viewing platform set atop a corner tower roughly thirteen metres high.
What to know

- Reaching the viewing platform means climbing a narrow stair tower, unsuitable for visitors with reduced mobility.
