To make a day of it
Burg Gleiberg stands in Wettenberg (Landkreis Gießen), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Gleiberg Castle stands above the Gießener Becken on the summit of the Gleiberg hill, 308 metres high, in the municipality of Wettenberg. A fortress already existed here under the Conradines in the 10th century, later becoming the seat of the Counts of Gleiberg before passing through several noble houses, including Nassau-Weilburg. Destroyed in 1646 during the Thirty Years' War and never rebuilt, the ruin today features a striking 30-metre keep that visitors can climb for a panoramic view, along with the remains of a 13th-century hall.
