Neues Schloss Gießen stands in Gießen (Landkreis Gießen), in Hesse, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.
The Neues Schloss in Gießen stands at the heart of this university town, on the Brandplatz, right next to the Zeughaus and just steps from the botanical garden and the Alte Schloss. Built in the 16th century on the order of Landgrave Philip the Magnanimous, the building combines stone and timber framing in a style that bridges late Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Given its size, it ranks among the largest half-timbered structures in Hesse. Today the building houses the Institute of Geography of Justus Liebig University, which limits access to its interior spaces.
