Lichtenstein Castle rises on a ridge of the Haßberge hills above the village that bears its name, in Pfarrweisach. Once a joint-fief Ganerbenburg dating back to the 13th century and shared among several family branches, it now stands as a double castle: the South Castle, still inhabited by the von Rotenhan family, and the North Castle, preserved only as a ruin open to visitors. Notable features include a Romanesque keep built on a rock outcrop and a 15th-century tower from the Hussite Wars period, an early example of fortification adapted for firearms.
