Burg Gutenfels stands in Kaub (Rhein-Lahn-Kreis), in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Recorded dating: 13th century. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Gutenfels Castle rises above the town of Kaub on a rocky spur 110 metres over the Rhine, within the UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge. Built from 1220 onward, it stands as one of the best-preserved examples of Hohenstaufen-era castle architecture. Its square 35-metre keep and three-storey residential building still reflect a defensive layout that survived sieges and later rebuilding largely intact.
