To make a day of it

Château Segonzac stands in Saint-Genès-de-Blaye (Gironde), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Château Segonzac stands on a terrace overlooking the Gironde estuary, at the heart of a working wine estate in Saint-Genès-de-Blaye. Built in a U-shape in the late 19th century for Jean Dupuy, a press magnate who later became a government minister, it has kept its stately architecture with broken roofs and stone dormers. The surrounding vineyard, now certified organic, produces a cru bourgeois wine under the blaye-côtes-de-bordeaux appellation. A concrete water tower from the 1930s, rising among the vines, has become a familiar landmark of the estate.
