Château Lascombes stands on the highest hill of Margaux, within a wine estate ranked second growth in the 1855 classification. The present building, in neo-Gothic English style, dates from the 1870s and was commissioned by Gustave Louis Chaix d'Est-Ange, who bought the property in 1867. The land's history goes back to the 14th century, when it belonged to the Durfort de Duras family, before passing to the Lascombes family. Today the estate functions primarily as a working vineyard, producing wine under the château's name.
