To make a day of it

Château du Pouyaud stands in Dignac (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 16th century, 17th century, 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

On a high point of the Dignac area, in the Charente region, the château du Pouyaud raises its square 16th century keep within a horseshoe shaped group of buildings that combines several centuries of construction, from the 15th to the 18th. Notable features include the machicolations and slender turret crowning the tower, along with a carved doorway topped by a pediment on the residential wing. The property, however, is privately owned and can only be viewed from outside.
