To make a day of it

Château du Breuil stands in Bonneuil (Charente), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first quarter of the 16th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Standing in the Charente countryside, the Château du Breuil displays a manor house dating from the early sixteenth century, set behind a moat fed by a stream. The polygonal staircase tower, pierced by a flamboyant-style doorway, and the dormer windows carved with Renaissance shells form the main points of interest of this residence, which remained in the same family for centuries. From the terrace, reached by a single-arch stone bridge, visitors can still see the carved sixteenth-century ornamentation on the façades.
